lineage (to the best of my knowledge):

I acquired this DVD through a ‘trade’, but the authoring was (IMHO!) awful. I therefore reauthored
it using TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6.23.73 (chapters + animated menu).

The aspect ratio is widescreen although this was not embedded into the original encodes, you’ll have to adjust that on playback.

In extracting the video and audio from the original disc it became apparent that there are a couple of glitches where
a few frames were somehow dropped, I guess during the original authoring from the look of the original VOBS.
I have fixed these as best as I could, but they are (a little) noticeable during ‘Anthem’ and ‘I Tried To Leave You’.
Also the guy who recorded this missed the very opening of ‘I’m Your Man’, likely because he was changing the tape.

That said, he did a pretty good job encoding the video and audio from the tapes.

Some Jools Holland clips were recorded in HQ mode so have higher bit rates than the Cambridge which was in SP mode.

Remaster Info:

The original DVD i downloaded here had insufficient info. (See above). I would say (99% sure) it was first a VHS source,
the picture quality in combination with the bitrate let me think so.

The Audio quality is ok in original, but not my kind of style. So i decided to give it a slight remaster.

Nothing more is done then a boost to mids and highs in combination with a puncher and a bit volume boost.

No reencoding. The remastered Audio is the with the higher volume. I say that, because on my burned DVD it is track one (as
written on the cover), but on my HDD playing with VLC it is track two.

Have fun again ;-)

Review:


Excellent pro-shot with very clear picture and excellent sound.
This version was recorded off MTV and is slightly better then "PRO #1a" but it does not include the soundcheck and has the MTV logo on.

Notes for PRO #1b:

Multi camera PRO-shot video, with soundboard audio, recorded by MTV. Incomplete, television broadcast, version. This show has been broadcast many times, in varying lengths.
A "complete" version (including all the songs, except the soundcheck, and missing some between song downtime) has been broadcast.
Television broadcast versions have superior sound and video quality to the near complete session tape (PRO #1a), but do not feature any soundcheck material.
A digital satellite broadcast has been transferred directly to DVD which includes all songs except for the soundcheck; see Live Nirvana's DVD Guide for more information.
The audio portion is also circulating in DBS>DAT format.
