Notes on the Source Material

SBD (ShnID = 87643)
Another flawless transfer by Charlie Miller. This is probably the
best 1973 or 74 recording I have ever heard. It is also a very
complete recording with just 2 small cuts in songs and with most
of the btwn song tuning intact as well.

AUD1 (ShnID = 15537)
A terrific AUD recording by the master. Jerry Moore nails it again
with a great document of a 1974 dead show. This is exactly the type
of recording you want to mix with a SBD to combine forces and make
the whole greater than the sum of the parts. Also much of the btwn
song tuning is intact and the combination of these 2 sources probably
is every second of this show from start to finish. Including btwn
song tuning plus long intro and outro material. The whole enchilada.

---------------------------------------------------------

Tech Notes

FLAC/SHNs decoded and Wavemerge was used to reassemble the entire
show back to 1 long wave. CEP2.0 was used to align & synch both
of the sources. CEP2.0 was used for the multitrack mixdown.
This is a 65% SBD, 35% AUD1 mix.
- Mixed by dan@am-dig.com
- FLAC conversion 10-JAN-2008
- Artwork by dan@am-dig.com 300dpi - For best results
print at the highest resolution onto glossy photo paper.
Design for use with a clear slim double CD case.
- Special thanks to unknown photographers for the images used
for this artwork.

---------------------------------------------------------

Multitrack Mixdown Settings

Stereo Matrix
SBD -1.5db
AUD -7db

---------------------------------------------------------

Notes

d1t01 "Intro" this is comprised mostly of the AUD source and then
crossfades before the first song starts.

d1t02 "Don't Ease" the mix is all over the place for the first 1
minute. Mixing with the AUD has helped but not fixed this problem.

d1t08 "Cumberland Blues" the SBD was missing approx 30 seconds.
This section is comprise of just the AUD source. The AUD source
was EQ'd and levels adjusted to better blend with the sound of
the SBD. Crossfades applied to each end of the patch.

d2t04 "Intro" this is comprised mostly of the AUD source and then
crossfades before the first song of the second set starts.

d3t03 "Eyes Of The World" the SBD was missing approx 30 seconds.
This section is comprise of just the AUD source. The AUD source
was EQ'd and levels adjusted to better blend with the sound of
the SBD. Crossfades applied to each end of the patch.

Remastered by CE 01/04/2009

Notes:

God Street Wine was a band i used to listen a lot in the 90´s. Some months ago while
surfing through archive.org i found some very nice recordings from them, and i decided
to give them a little remaster. This is the first of these recordings.

It had a very very nice and clear sound, but the bass was very flat. So i did nothing more
then boost the bass and mids a bit.

Remaster Lineage:

shn>dbpoweramp>wav>wavelab 5 (bass/mid boost)>dbpoweramp>flac8

Enjoy this lost but wonderful band!

Beirut - Portland Holocene (2006-10-18) (-MTRX- 13)

Beirut
2006-10-18
Holocene
Portland OR

*Produced* by thir13en
Both sources recorded by yltfan

check the band out at: http://www.beirutband.com/

This show really amazed me. Such wordly, old-sounding music, coming from such young musicians.
The room was pretty small, and the crowd was very enthusiastic. Thanks to the band, the club, and to Andrew,
who hooked me up with this whole thing, and is wroking on producing a DVD--watch out!
And, of course, thanks to thir13en for doing a great job with the matrix. I think it sounds fabulous!

thir13en's original info file:

More from YLTfan. Grab this and thank him, you should.

This was interesting stuff. Can't say I'd listen too often, but it's really cool music.
So I go to their website to see what's up, and they've cancelled the tour because
"... Zach was briefly hospitalized for extreme exhaustion."

Ouch. Well, YLTfan caught them before this unfortunate event, so check them out while you can,
in a real nice blend of sources. It's very lively with a real nice atmosphere to it.

01. (the crowd waits)
02. The Gulag Orkestar
03. Brandenburg
04. After The Curtain
05. -banter1-
06. Elephant Gun
07. Mount Wroclai
08. The Canals Of Our City
09. -banter2-
10. Postcards From Italy
11. -banter3-
12. Closing Song
13. -banter4-
14. Brazil
15. -banter5-
16. Scenic World > Ederlezi
17. -banter6-
18. Siki Siki Baba
19. encore break > band intros
20. Transatlantic

Note: Yes, I broke open a lot of banter tracks. There were many near or over one minute segments,
and it just seemed like a win-win situation if they just had their own tracks.
I can't think of a reason not to do that. (That's a nice setup for someone to argue an opposing view.)
